More Than a Cup: Why Your Coffee Order Is an Act of Support

Black Business Month: Why Your Purchase Matters

Every August, Black Business Month celebrates the achievements, resilience, and impact of Black entrepreneurs across the United States. Established in 2004 by historians John William Templeton and Frederick E. Jordan Sr., the month recognizes the important role Black-owned businesses play in creating jobs, driving innovation, and strengthening communities.

Black Business Month isn't about asking people to spend more. It's about asking them to be more intentional with the dollars they're already spending.

Small businesses don't grow because of one big moment. They grow because thousands of people make the decision to support them, one purchase at a time. Choosing to support a Black-owned business helps create opportunities, strengthens communities, and ensures important stories continue to be told.

That's the idea Ezra Coffee was built on.

We believe coffee can do more than fill a mug. It can preserve history, spark conversations, and create opportunities for the next generation. Every blend is inspired by an influential person, place, or moment in Black history because we believe those stories should be part of everyday life, not just something we revisit once a year.

Supporting a Black-owned business isn't about checking a box each August. Behind every small business is someone who took a chance, solved a problem, and is working every day to build something that lasts. When you choose to support those businesses, you're helping make that work possible.

For us, that impact extends beyond coffee. Every purchase helps fund scholarships for college students, allowing us to invest in the next generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers. It's one more way we strive to ensure that every bag of coffee creates an impact beyond the cup.

Whether you discover a new Black-owned brand this month, support one you've loved for years, or introduce a friend to one, your purchase matters.

This August, celebrate with purpose. Support Black-owned businesses. Learn the stories behind the brands you buy.

The businesses we support today help shape the communities we build tomorrow. That's a choice worth making this month and every month.
