Celebrating Black Business Month with Ezra Coffee

August is Black Business Month a time to celebrate the creativity, resilience, and cultural influence of Black entrepreneurs. At Ezra Coffee, it’s also a reminder of why we started: to blend coffee, culture, and history in ways that bring people together and pour back into our community.

Why Black Business Month Matters

Black Business Month isn’t just about recognition — it’s about action. It’s a time to amplify Black voices, invest in Black-owned brands, and create opportunities that last long after August.

Over the last few years, Black-owned businesses have been launching at historic rates — growing nearly 57% between 2017 and 2022. Yet we still make up only 3% of all employer businesses in the U.S., despite representing over 14% of the population. And while the innovation and drive are there, the support often isn’t: on average, Black entrepreneurs receive less than half the financing of their white counterparts, and are far less likely to secure the loans or contracts that help businesses scale.

That means every purchase, recommendation, and repost on social media truly matters. Small actions compound into meaningful change.

Ezra Coffee’s Place in the Movement

At Ezra Coffee, we’re proud to be part of the growing community of Black-owned brands reshaping industries, telling our own stories, and building legacies. Every blend we create is rooted in heritage and hospitality — because we believe coffee should be as rich in meaning as it is in flavor. For us, the ritual of coffee is a way to connect, reflect, and celebrate culture every day.

How You Can Support Black-Owned Businesses

Supporting Black-owned businesses isn’t a one-time gesture — it’s a lasting commitment to equity, creativity, and community wealth. This month, and every month, we invite you to:

  • Shop intentionally — Choose Black-owned when you can, whether it’s your morning coffee, a gift, or your next big purchase.

  • Share the story — Tell friends and family about your favorite Black-owned businesses.

  • Engage locally — Attend pop-ups, markets, and events that showcase Black entrepreneurs.

When you choose Ezra Coffee, you’re not just buying coffee — you’re investing in a vision where culture and commerce thrive together.

Here’s to celebrating, supporting, and savoring Black Business Month — one meaningful sip at a time.
